Tenzing arrives on Apple TV with Tom Hiddleston, but its real hero finally takes center stage
Most people recognize the image of two climbers reaching the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. Far fewer know both men's stories equally well. Edmund Hillary became one of the most recognizable figures in the history of mountaineering, while Tenzing Norgay was often described primarily through his role as a Sherpa guide. Jennifer Peedom's Tenzing, now streaming on Apple TV from October 16, 2026, changes that perspective. Tom Hiddleston plays Hillary, but Genden Phuntsok carries the film as Norgay, an accomplished Himalayan mountaineer for whom the world's highest peak represents more than a challenge to be conquered.
