Electronic Arts has revealed a new hierarchy of priorities across its video game business.

Some franchises will receive additional investment, others will be reorganized, and a few familiar names are returning after years of inactivity.

In an October 21 message to employees, EA identified three broad priorities: strengthening its core franchises, reaching new audiences and developing additional business opportunities.

Those intentions are already influencing specific projects across its portfolio.

Fight Night returns after fifteen years

The most immediately recognizable announcement is the revival of Fight Night.

EA confirms that a new boxing project is in pre-production, fifteen years after Fight Night Champion.

The publisher plans to draw on the expertise of its combat-sports simulation team.

The decision marks a renewed interest in dedicated boxing games after EA spent much of the intervening period developing its UFC franchise.

The recognizable Fight Night name provides a connection with players who remember the earlier games.

However, the company has not announced a release window, licensed roster, development budget or commercial forecast.

Reviving a recognizable franchise creates an opportunity, but it does not guarantee a successful return.

Battlefield and Apex remain major priorities

EA identifies shooters as one of its key areas for continued investment.

The company describes Battlefield 6 positively and intends to use its experience to shape future Battlefield projects.

It also confirms that Respawn Entertainment and DICE will collaborate on an unannounced project.

The studios bring different backgrounds in multiplayer shooting games. Respawn is associated with Apex Legends and Titanfall, while DICE is best known for Battlefield.

That combination is notable, but it does not establish the nature of the resulting game.

EA has not identified the title as a new Battlefield, a Titanfall installment or an original intellectual property.

Apex Legends is also scheduled to receive new multiplayer modes and additional experiences connected to its universe.

No complete feature list or release dates have been provided.

Project Evergreen takes priority within The Sims

EA is concentrating more development attention on Project Evergreen within The Sims portfolio.

As part of that decision, development of Project Lotus is being paused.

The distinction is important. A pause is not necessarily a permanent cancellation, and increased priority does not guarantee an earlier release.

EA has not disclosed final commercial titles, complete gameplay details or release dates for these projects in its restructuring announcement.

For The Sims audience, the confirmed change concerns development priorities rather than the availability of a new game.

skate. continues with a smaller team

Electronic Arts also plans changes to the team responsible for skate.

The company says it has succeeded in attracting players but wants to improve long-term engagement.

EA intends to pursue that objective through a smaller, more focused development organization and a clearer roadmap.

The announcement does not quantify the complete staffing changes or identify specific features that will be removed.

It also does not provide a revised schedule for future content.

The confirmed information is organizational: EA is changing how skate. is developed and supported.

Project Gridiron explores social American football

Another planned EA SPORTS project is Project Gridiron.

The publisher describes it as a social-first, open-world American football experience.

That ambition extends beyond conventional match-based sports games, suggesting an interest in broader shared environments.

However, EA has not announced its detailed activities, supported platforms or business model.

Project Gridiron remains in development rather than being an available product.

A smaller number of major projects

EA also intends to reduce the number of large-scale action-adventure games it develops simultaneously.

Marvel's Iron Man and the next Star Wars Jedi remain among its supported projects.

The wider restructuring also includes the closure of BioWare and cancellation of its early Mass Effect project, announced separately.

EA argues that concentrating talent and investment will help its selected productions receive the resources they need.

This approach may simplify decision-making, but it can also increase reliance on a smaller number of major franchises.

The company has not yet provided evidence demonstrating the long-term impact of the new structure on production efficiency or commercial performance.

Different projects, different timelines

The announced changes should not be treated as a uniform slate of upcoming releases.

Fight Night is in pre-production. Respawn and DICE have an unidentified collaboration. Project Evergreen has been prioritized, Project Lotus has been paused, and skate. is undergoing organizational changes.

Each initiative is at a different stage and carries a different degree of certainty.

What connects them is EA's stated intention to focus on franchises and communities that can support lasting engagement.

Fight Night provides the most visible symbol of that strategy, while the changes affecting Battlefield, Apex, The Sims and skate. demonstrate its operational consequences.

The restructuring has been announced, but its success will depend on the games and experiences that eventually emerge from those decisions.
