Resident Evil (2026) Review: Zach Cregger Finally Captures the Terror of Playing the Games
Zach Cregger delivers one of the most convincing cinematic interpretations of Resident Evil by focusing on the sensations of survival horror rather than reproducing familiar characters or storylines. Austin Abrams makes the escalating nightmare funny, frightening and surprisingly human. Inventive creature encounters, carefully managed tension and a compact structure keep the experience moving at tremendous speed. The final act becomes less satisfying, leaving the protagonist's emotional journey somewhat incomplete. Nevertheless, this is a remarkably effective reinvention that understands why the games are frightening.
