In Grand Theft Auto, music is rarely just background noise.

It helps establish a period, gives neighborhoods distinctive personalities and can transform an ordinary drive into a memorable moment.

Since the introduction of fictional radio stations, Rockstar has used music to build cities with their own cultural identities.

For GTA VI, the developer is expanding that approach by commissioning Justice to compose the original score.

Rockstar confirmed the collaboration with French electronic duo Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay on October 29, 2026.

French electronic music meets GTA's America

Justice has developed a recognizable musical identity.

Its compositions frequently combine electronic production, powerful rhythms and instrumental textures drawn from different genres.

The duo has also maintained a strong relationship with striking visual presentation throughout its career.

That makes its association with GTA VI a meeting between two creative worlds that place considerable importance on spectacle.

Rockstar's game explores a fictional American society through characters involved in criminal activities.

Justice's music often moves between aggressive passages, brighter melodies and more reflective atmospheres.

Those contrasts make the collaboration particularly interesting.

They do not, however, establish the musical direction of every scene in the game.

Giving Vice City a musical identity

Vice City is more than the location of GTA VI's story.

Its identity draws inspiration from Miami, coastal nightlife and a diverse urban culture.

The wider state of Leonida introduces additional environments and communities.

The original score must accompany those contrasting locations while maintaining a sense of continuity.

Rockstar describes Justice's work as compositions that change dynamically depending on how players interact with the world.

This distinguishes the score from conventional radio programming.

A recorded song generally retains its structure when played on a station.

An adaptive composition can instead respond to events as they unfold.

Rockstar has confirmed that approach without publishing detailed information about the underlying technology.

Jason and Lucia at the heart of the story

GTA VI follows two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Their relationship is an important part of the narrative.

Rockstar describes a couple drawn into a criminal conspiracy after an apparently simple job goes wrong.

Their journey takes them through several parts of Leonida, where they must increasingly rely on one another.

The original music will accompany both dramatic sequences and ordinary moments of exploration.

Justice's work therefore needs to support more than high-energy action.

It must also provide an emotional framework for the characters and the changing tone of the story.

Whether that ambition succeeds will become clearer when the game is released.

Gesaffelstein joins the collaboration

The announcement introduces Pusher, a new track featuring Justice and Gesaffelstein.

The single became available on October 29.

The collaboration brings together two prominent names from French electronic music.

It provides an early preview of the musical direction behind GTA VI.

Rockstar also highlights Flower in a Hurricane.

That composition features Justice alongside Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

It appeared in the launch trailer published on October 15.

These collaborations demonstrate the scope of the musical project, although the complete tracklist and every guest contribution have not yet been revealed.

Two separate albums for one game

Rockstar is preparing two different musical releases.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is scheduled for November 19, the same day as the game.

It contains 34 original tracks from a broader selection of artists.

Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score by Justice follows on December 11.

That release contains 30 main compositions and additional bonus material.

Streaming, double CD and triple vinyl editions are planned.

A limited clear-vinyl pressing will also be available.

The distinction separates the music used to represent the game's wider cultural environment from compositions designed to accompany the interactive experience.

A soundtrack designed to exist beyond GTA VI

The standalone release demonstrates Rockstar's intention to give Justice's score a life outside the game.

Players will be able to revisit the compositions after experiencing Jason and Lucia's story.

Electronic music listeners can also discover the project without necessarily playing GTA VI.

This creates an interesting relationship between interactive composition and traditional album listening.

Music written to respond to gameplay may also exist in arrangements designed for uninterrupted listening.

The two experiences need not be identical.

The album provides a curated presentation of the compositions, while the game may rearrange or alter them depending on events.

The November 19 release

GTA VI remains scheduled for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Rockstar has not announced a PC release date.

Players will be able to experience Justice's music within the game's interactive world before the full album arrives December 11.

The involvement of renowned musicians does not automatically guarantee a successful score.

Its effectiveness will depend on how the compositions support the characters, events and journeys across Leonida.

Nevertheless, the collaboration establishes an important creative ambition: in GTA VI, music is intended to help tell the story as much as define the city surrounding it.
