IT: Welcome to Derry Gets a Surprise Halloween Episode Exploring the Ancient Origins of Pennywise's Evil
HBO Max had an unexpected Halloween treat for Stephen King fans. On October 31, 2026, the streamer released A Story of Derry, a previously unannounced 30-minute special connected to IT: Welcome to Derry. Rather than continuing the events of the show's 1962 storyline, the episode follows three Indigenous youngsters who enter the Western Woods centuries earlier and encounter an ancient supernatural presence. The new chapter expands a legend introduced during the first season. It is already streaming in the United States, while the officially renewed second season has yet to receive a premiere date.
