A remote hotel in western Ireland is an inviting setting for a ghost story. Add a gathering of spiritualists and a missing woman, and the situation begins to resemble the opening chapters of a Victorian mystery novel.

The Séance of Blake Manor embraces those traditions while giving players the role of an active investigator.

Declan Ward arrives in Connemara on October 28, 1897, searching for Evelyn Deane, who disappeared from the hotel the previous day. The staff behave as though nothing unusual has happened, while the guests continue preparing for the Grand Séance.

Originally released for PC in 2025, the game expanded to PS5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on October 27, 2026.

A Victorian fascination with the unseen

The late nineteenth century provides an evocative cultural backdrop for the story. Spiritualist gatherings, claimed communication with the dead and debates about supernatural phenomena were familiar elements of Victorian society.

Spooky Doorway uses that environment to introduce a collection of characters whose interest in the afterlife does not necessarily make them trustworthy.

The Grand Séance is scheduled around the approach of All Hallows' Eve. References to Samhain, associated with the transition into the darker part of the year in Irish tradition, deepen the atmosphere surrounding the gathering.

These cultural influences help define the fictional setting. The game is not presented as a historical documentary or an authentic reconstruction of a specific nineteenth-century event.

A hotel full of private agendas

Every guest follows a schedule, giving Blake Manor the feeling of a place that continues to function without waiting for the player.

This structure changes how a detective story unfolds. Investigating one room may mean missing a conversation somewhere else. The decision to question a particular suspect can carry an opportunity cost.

Declan's journal holds observations, evidence and information about the residents. Comparing their accounts allows the player to investigate contradictions and consider possible motives.

The tension comes not only from strange events but from uncertainty about other people. Who is hiding useful information? Which apparent coincidence deserves attention? Is an unexplained event supernatural, or is someone using the atmosphere of the séance for another purpose?

The game does not ask players to treat every suspicion as proof. Information has to be collected, connected and tested through further investigation.

A comic book brought into three dimensions

Spooky Doorway uses strong outlines, expressive character designs and carefully controlled colors to create a striking visual identity.

The first-person viewpoint places players directly inside environments that resemble panels from a gothic graphic novel.

Portraits, corridors and private rooms communicate the hotel's history without relying on photorealistic rendering.

The studio previously created The Darkside Detective and continues its interest in stories shaped by folklore, mystery and unusual characters.

The visual approach also supports the investigation mechanics. Individual details of a character's clothing or expression can become evidence, giving the presentation a functional role in the story.

A new chapter in the game's availability

Raw Fury released the console editions on the first anniversary of the original PC launch. New demos are available for Xbox and PlayStation 5.

The Xbox version is also included in supported Game Pass subscriptions and features Xbox Play Anywhere.

The game's official website states that English is the only supported language. French localisation has not been confirmed, which is worth considering before choosing a platform.

The Séance of Blake Manor is now available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.

Its appeal lies in the intersection of two storytelling traditions: the supernatural gothic tale and the detective mystery built around motives, testimony and hidden relationships. The dead may be waiting to speak, but the living are the ones who must first answer Declan Ward's questions.
